What is the 7th Social Contribution?

The Social Contribution is a meeting place to share novel ideas and develop them into corporate social contributions. Occurring every year, the 7th meeting took place on September 20, 2023. With preliminaries having finished in July, it was now time for the top ten teams to advance to the finals where they would explain their company’s goals and share their ideas for positives social impact. This event allows for organizations and companies to partner together to make new social contributions.

Competition

The competition had a prize pool worth 23 million won, sponsored by DGB Financial Group. The money was split as follows, one team would win the grand prize of 7 million won, the Excellence award would go to two team, each receiving 5 million won, and finally two teams each being awarded 3 million won for the Encouragement Award.

Every organization came with big ideas for positive social impact. Naviyam discussed a food donation system, Hohoworks focused on teaching and fitness training contents for the elderly, education children about finance was New Dream’s main goal, GAON IPM presented ideas for improving high risk residence conditions and 집으로가는길 wants to help youth find their dreams. There were many other teams presenting as well with ideas ranging from nursing homes to women empowerment facility. Grand Prize

After listening to every organization present their goals, it was time to give out the awards. Winning the Grand Prize was Planet Community Center, or Planet Zoom-in, a startup that began in the mist of Covid wanting to combine travel with volunteer work. Offer different programs that allow you to make positive social impact in smaller communities such as helping at a soup kitchen, or taking care of dogs at the animal shelter. There is a variety of things for you to do, including traveling outside of Seoul to places like Hamyang to not only volunteer but also enjoy life outside of the city and experience more of Korean culture.

Planet Zoom continues to plan out new and exciting social trips that will either be in Seoul or in the countryside. Allowing you to have a plan ready to go when you visit South Korea, or try something new if you’re already here. Continue to support Planet Community Center by joining them for a social trip to help out those in need in South Korea.
