Why Mystery Shuttle?

Welcome to Planet Zoomin’s special event ‘Mystery Shuttle’ Program.

This innovative program aims to make volunteering a more enjoyable experience. Together, we will lend a helping hand to places in need, spreading warmth in anticipation of Christmas. As individuals, we may be separate, but our collective efforts create a powerful synergy. Let our warm influence brighten the world during this chilly winter.

What to Expect

The Mystery Shuttle program combines volunteer activities with a Christmas dinner party. To add an element of excitement to volunteering, participants board random buses, discovering the location and nature of their volunteer work en route, as well as how the activities will unfold.

Upon reaching the destination, volunteers will dedicate several hours to their chosen tasks, with lunch provided during the volunteering period. Following the completion of volunteer work, a Christmas party and event will take place at a music pub somewhere in Seoul.

The Christmas party will include complimentary food and drinks, along with exciting prize features. Attendees will have the opportunity to socialize with a diverse group of people, sharing their volunteer experiences and impressions.

ARK Dog Shelter

It’s regrettable, but historically, Korea had a tradition of consuming dog meat. Although awareness has significantly improved, and the practice has diminished, there are still individuals who consume dog meat, and there are restaurants specializing in it.

ABOUT ARK

ARK Dog Shelter is an animal rescue organization with a mission to end the dog meat trade and find forever homes for the rescued dogs. They actively participate in protesting the dog meat trade and also rescue dogs from the streets, mountains and in the dog meat markets. ARK plays a crucial role in rescuing and safeguarding dogs raised for meat, and facilitating their transition to new homes. While the organization works hard in finding these dogs a forever home, the specific breeds that are typically found in these markets are harder to rehome, especially because they are larger and people tend to stereotype them as aggressive dogs. So in the meantime, they are sheltered with ARK.

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH ARK?

Volunteering with ARK provides support to the on-site permanent volunteers as well as giving the dogs a chance to get familiar with people, which helps the transition to their permanent homes. Some of these dogs are still scared of people and find it difficult to trust them, so actively interacting with them by changing their water and food bowls, taking them on walks and playing with them will hopefully give them a feeling of security and love.

Let’s extend a warm hand to these cold and lonely dogs during this chilly winter.

Teaching multicultural children

Many foreigners live in Korea, contributing to the existence of multicultural families. In Korea, children from multicultural backgrounds often experience a sense of being treated as outsiders. At the Global Children Care Center, they step in to teach and nurture these children when their parents are working.

ABOUT GLOBAL CHILDREN’S CENTER

The Global Children’s Center, located in Guro-gu, is a cultural center that provides protection, education, and emotional support to children that need a safe place to go after school. Their goal is to help improve school life and peer relationships through teaching them the Korean language, providing fun activities and camps. The center is mainly made up of foreign children and middle-income children. As the center is a multicultural center, there are children from Vietnam, Philippines, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Australia, Congo and Ghana.

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH GCC?

As fellow foreigners, we have the opportunity to lend a listening ear to the children’s stories, provide education, and assist them in growing up well! In the spirit of Christmas, we will be teaching the children to sing a Christmas song and playing with them, while also getting to know each other.
