Hamyang: Exciting Escape To Nature

The Hamyang Wellness journey started with a delicious, healthy Korean lunch at a local restaurant. We savoured bibimbap, a classic dish consisting of rice, meat, and vegetables, to kick off the wellness adventure. After lunch, we embarked on a plogging session through Sanglim Park, picking up trash while walking. We also took a break at a foot bath area called 발씻는곳 to wash off our feet after the long walk.

The second day of our adventure began with much anticipation. Our first stop was a wild ginseng farm where we experienced picking and cleaning ginseng, and then creating ginseng makgeolli. As a root that is not only used in making alcohol but also in medicine, ginseng is a crop that Hamyang is well-known for. After sipping our makgeolli, we enjoyed some more Korean food while sitting in relaxing foot baths. It was a time of true relaxation, feeling the wind on our faces, admiring the incredible view, and savoring life’s simple pleasures. Our final destination was Gaepyeong Village and the Solsongju Experience Center, which has been operational for over 500 years. The center focuses on traditional liquor made of rice and pine cone, and we were able to sample different types of liquor and converse with master crafters. Day 2 concluded with us packing up and returning to Seoul. Although it was difficult to leave Hamyang, the memories will always remain.
