ECO Park: Aiding In The Growth Of Nature

In November 2018, ECO Park – short for Ecology Park – was established. The park was founded, by director Cho Eunmi, with several goals in mind such as restoring river ecology, managing Saetgang ECO Park, preserving habitats and wetlands, and promoting both ecological and cultural values. Planet Zoom offers a unique volunteer experience through their ARK program, which brings volunteers to the ECO park. Located near the Han River, Saetang Ecology Park is the perfect place to help out. Upon arrival, you’ll be introduced to other volunteers and receive a brief orientation of the park and your tasks. Once you’re ready, you’ll put on books, gloves, a hat, mosquito repellent, and grab tools before venturing out into nature to help it thrive.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference. Your group leader will guide you to the section of the park’s forest where you will be working. It’s important to not that each section has different tasks, so be sure to speak with either your planet zoom tour guide or group leader to learn about your specific role.  You will see a lot of people walking throughout the park. Walking through the park is a great way to boost your overall health, enriching your body, mind, and soul. 

Once you arrive at your designated section, you leader will provide additional instructions. You could be picking up trash, identifying harmful organisms, or removing giant weeds. The tasks assigned will depend on the needs of the day and which areas require attention. Get ready to put in some elbow grease and help the park thrive!

Saetgang ECO Park is a wonderful place to volunteer if you are interested in making a positive impact on the environment. Not only will you be able to improve the park’s ecology, but you’ll also have the opportunity to interact more with nature and give back to the community. By joining Planet Zoom, you’ll have access to many other volunteer opportunities in addition to Saetgang ECO Park. Imagine being able to witness the return of otters and participating in the Saetgang Forest School.
